The indicator specifies the percentage of the coastal waters of the Baltic Sea within the Polish national parks - Słowiński National Park and Woliński National Park - in relation to the general area of the territorial sea of Poland. Coastal waters, in accordance with the Act of 18 July 2001 - Water Law, these are surface marine waters within 1 nautical miles from the baselines: for the Słowiński National Park - this is an area of 11 171.1 ha, for the Woliński National Park - this is an area of 2 725,4 ha (in years 2010-2011) and 2 713,5 ha (from 2012) Sea areas, in accordance with the UN methodology, are areas of the territorial sea of a country. In accordance with the Act of 21 March 1991 on the Maritime Areas of the Republic of Poland and the Maritime Administration (uniform text, Journal of Laws 2013, item 934), territorial sea consists of a marine area of 12 nautical miles wide, measured from the baseline of the sea (baselines of the territorial sea is constituted by the low-water line along the coast or the outer limit of marine internal waters). The area of the territorial sea in Poland is 8 682 km2. |
