The basis for the calculation of the indicator is the total length of railway lines operated on 31 December.
A railway line is an element of the railway network between two junction stations (or terminal stations).
The length of operated railway lines is the sum of the construction length of standard gauge, narrow gauge and large gauge railway lines operated on 31 December. The construction length of railway line is understood as the distance between its extremes measured on single-track lines – along the axis of the track, and on multi-track lines – along the axis of the longest track.
