Methodological explanations
The data required to calculate the indicator are derived from the Labour Force Survey (LFS), conducted on a quarterly basis using a continuous survey method (a rolling reference week), which allows the labour market situation to be illustrated over the entire quarter. The survey covers persons aged 15–89 who are members of households in randomly selected dwellings. The survey excludes household members who have been staying (with total actual and intended duration of stay considered) abroad for 12 months or more, as well as those in collective living quarters (such as workers’ hostels, student dormitories, boarding schools, social care homes, etc.) and persons experiencing homelessness.
The main criterion for classifying the population by economic activity is work, i.e. whether a person is working, has a job, or is actively seeking employment. In line with international standards, the total population can be divided into three main categories: employed persons, unemployed persons, and economically inactive persons. Employed and unemployed persons constitute the economically active population.
Managerial positions are occupations classified in the Classification of Occupations and Specialisations 2025 (KZiS 2025) and in the ISCO-08 into the major group of occupations “1. Managers”.
The KZiS 2025 is the official, structured system for grouping occupations and specialisations used in Poland, based on the International Labour Organization’s International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO-08).
