Methodological explanations

The area of legally protected sites of special natural value comprises national parks, nature reserves, landscape parks, protected landscape areas, documentation sites, ecological areas, and landscape–nature complexes.

It excludes nature reserves, documentation sites, ecological areas, and landscape–nature complexes located within landscape parks and protected landscape areas to avoid double counting.

It also includes the portion of the Natura 2000 network located within national parks, nature reserves, landscape parks, protected landscape areas, documentation sites, ecological areas, and landscape–nature complexes.
