Data on corruption (Art. 228-231, 250a, 296a and 296b of the Criminal Code) come from the National Police Headquarters and National Prosecutor's Office. In connection with the Central Anticorruption Office Law (dated 9th of June 2006) corruption consists is: - promising, offering or giving by any person, directly or indirectly, of any undue advantage to a person performing a public function for itself or for any other person, in exchange for an act or omission in the performance of its functions,
- demanding or accepting by a person exercising a public function, either directly or indirectly, of any undue advantage for itself or for any other person, or accepting an offer or promise of such benefits, in exchange for an act or omission in the performance of its functions.
