Methodological explanations
A wastewater treatment plant is a set of technological facilities used to treat industrial and municipal wastewater (working on a sewage network), i.e. to remove from wastewater substances dissolved in them, colloids and suspensions, before discharging them into water or into the ground. In terms of the type of wastewater treatment methods and related processes, wastewater treatment plants are divided into the following types: mechanical, chemical, biological, with increased biogene removal.
The classification of the type of treatment plant (as a facility) is determined by the highest degree of wastewater treatment, e.g. a mechanical-biological treatment plant is considered biological.
A wastewater treatment plant with increased biogene removal is an complex of facilities with highly effective treatment technologies (mainly biological, as well as chemical) enabling increased reduction of nitrogen and phosphorus.
