Goal 4 - Quality education

Non-degree postgraduate programmes a level of education open to holders of first-cycle qualifications and provided by a higher education institution, a scientific institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a research institute or the Centre for Postgraduate Medical Studies, leading upon successful completion to the award of postgraduate qualifications.

Doctoral programmes third-cycle programmes open to holders of second-cycle qualifications, leading upon successful completion to the award of a third- cycle qualification conferred by an authorised organisational unit of a higher education institution, a scientific institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a research institute or an international scientific institute established under separate legislation, operating in the territory of the Republic of Poland.

Doctoral schools operating since the academic year 2019/20 are an organized form of doctoral education, conducted by authorized universities and institutes in at least two scientific disciplines or arts. The education prepares the participant to obtain a doctoral degree and ends with the submission of a doctoral dissertation together with a positive opinion of the promoter or promoters. The doctoral school may be run by an academic university, institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a research institute or an international institute with a scientific category A+, A or B+ in at least 2 disciplines.

Postgraduate and doctoral students are shown as many times as they study.

The data are presented according to the actual location of universities and foreign units / branches. The data includes foreigners.

Data until 2011 – without schools of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but including foreign units of Polish universities abroad (published at the place of the home university).

Data since 2012 – including schools of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but without foreign units of Polish universities abroad.

Working age population means the population of working age, i.e. for men group of the age 18-64 years, for women - 18-59 years.

Post-working age population means the population at the age at which people usually end their careers, i.e. for men - 65 years and more, for women - 60 years and more.
