Methodological explanations
Higher education institution a unit constituting a part of the system of science and education, providing study programmes in at least one field of study. Higher education institution may be public and non-public; non-public higher education institutions are established on the basis of a permit of the Minister competent for higher education and science. Higher education institution provide education in the form of full-time and part-time programs.
Higher education student a person studying in first-cycle, second-cycle or long-cycle programmes.
Students are listed as many Times as the number of programmes they were enrolled in.
Persons with disabilities are persons who have a relevant granted disability certificate issued by an authority authorized to do so.
Pursuant to the Law of 27 August 1997 on Occupational and Social Rehabilitation and Employment of Disabled People (Journal of Laws 2024 item 44, as amended) are persons whose disability has been confirmed by a decision: 1) qualifying by the adjudicating bodies to one of the three degrees of disability (significant, moderate, light) or 2) total or partial incapacity for work on the basis of separate provisions, or 3) a disability issued before of 16 year-olds.
Scholarships for persons with disabilities - a benefit for a student or a doctoral student on the basis of disability confirmed by a decision of the competent authority. This scholarship is independent of the financial situation.
Data on students with disabilities are presented according to the headquarters of the parent higher education institutions. The data includes foreigners. Data since 2012 – including schools of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Notes
Until 2016, data obtained from the Statistics Poland reporting. Since 2017, data on universities, with the exception of data on parts of universities run by churches and other religious associations, have been compiled on the basis of the Integrated Information System on Science and Higher Education POL-on administered by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
