Accommodation surveys are conducted monthly using KT-1 statistical form. This survey provides information on the condition and use of tourist accommodation. Presented information concerns accommodation facilities with 10 or more beds.
Number of facilities and accommodations – data includes all facilities open on July 31st, as well as facilities closed on that day but open on other days of the month under review; the maximum capacity was assumed for these facilities. Intervals between stays, e.g., for renovations or disinfection, are not included in the number of days of operation.
Number of overnight stays is the product of the number of people (tourists) and the number of days (nights) of their stay.
Active establishment – an establishment which was accessible to tourists, at least in part (regardless of its actual occupancy), during the surveyed period.
Coastal area – according to European Union tourism statistics, local units (a gmina) that has a sea border or more than 50% of its area is located at the distance of 10 km from the sea:
• additionaly, the rural gminas of Słupsk, Główczyce, Pruszcz Gdański, Cedry Wielkie, the urban gmina of Koszalin and the mixed urban-rural gmina of Sianów have been included in agreement with Eurostat as a coastal area,
• Szczecin is not included in the EU coastal regions list, but has been added to this publication owing to its location at internal marine waters and its close association with the sea,
• Cedry Wielkie (gmina in the Pomorskie Voivodship), Braniewo (gmina in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship), and Nowe Warpno (gmina in the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship) were not includeddue to the lack of tourist accommodation establishments in the analyzed period.
Tourist accommodation establishments – establishments surveyed by Statistics Poland: include: hotels, motels, guesthouses, other hotel facilities (e.g., a facility fulfilling the functions of a hotel, motel, boarding house, (for example an uncategorized establishment functioning as a hotel, motel or boarding house) similar establishment, excursion hostel, shelter, youth hostel, school youth hostel, holiday centre, holiday youth centre, training-recreational centre, creative arts centre, of tourist cottages, camping site, tent camp site, hostel, health resort, rooms for guests, agritourist lodging, other not classified establishments (establishments, which function as tourist accommodation establishments, in the period of not being fully used according to their own purpose, these include among others dormitories, boarding schools, sport and recreational centres, etc.).
Tourists staying overnight – individuals (tourists) who began their stay at the facility in a given month, i.e., were checked in. Individuals staying at the turn of two months are counted once (i.e., at the time of check-in).
Establishment occupancy rate – results from the comparison of the actual number of provided accommodations with the nominal number of bed places (total bed places prepared for tourists on each activity day of the establishment); it is expressed as a percentage. |
