Methodological explanations
Flood embankment (flood embankment) - an artificial pile-shaped deposit, most often with a trapezoidal cross-section. They are erected along the river at some distance from its bed, which, surrounding floodplains along the river, create a larger bed for the anticipated flood waters, while preventing these waters from spilling over into the neighbouring areas protected in this way.
The flood protection shaft must meet the requirements for hydrotechnical structures set out in the Regulation of the Minister of the Environment of 20 April 2007 on the technical conditions to be met by hydrotechnical structures and their location.
The construction of flood embankments is classified as an investment in water management.
