Methodological explanations
Park-and-Ride (P+R) parking spaces are car parking bays for passenger vehicles located at sites enabling users to leave their car in order to continue their journey using public transport.
The Park-and-Ride parking system contributes to the reduction of private car traffic in city centres, while prioritising public transport. It enables the use of urban and rail transport following the parking of a vehicle in a secure, monitored location.
Park-and-Ride parking spaces are located at key interchanges, underground stations, and railway stations, thereby facilitating access to destinations.
This is an environmentally beneficial solution. A reduction in the number of cars in city centres results in lower noise levels and reduced emissions of exhaust pollutants.
